Understanding a GCAL Report

Provided by the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab, a GCAL Report provides an unbiased second opinion to ensure optimal diamond quality. Your GCAL Report ensures that your stone exhibits the certified characteristics of its GIA or AGSL Grading Report and includes the following:

Actual Size Photo: Photograph of the diamond at its actual size
Laser Inscription Photo: Photograph of the laser inscription at 50x magnification
Proportion Diagram: Map of the diamond's actual proportions, including depth, table, girdle and culet
Enlarged Photomicrograph: Photograph of the diamond’s top and bottom facets
Optical Brilliance Analysis: Photographs with controlled lighting and precise viewing angles to demonstrate brilliance as it exits the diamond's crown, with light leakage shown in blue
Optical Symmetry Analysis: Evaluation of the diamond’s balance discrepancies Certification Statement: Signed statement by the GCAL laboratory director to verify diamond quality
Diamond Grading Analysis: Notation of the diamond’s shape, measurements, carat weight, cut grade, proportions, polish, symmetry, color and clarity. May also contain additional comments
